Basic Form Elements

Form Elements are information blocks that you can drag and drop to customize your form.

To build a form, drag elements from the toolbar to the form builder window.

The basic section contains commonly used elements for gathering information in forms.

Let’s start with Heading. Drag and drop heading into the builder. Title your form and add a description. Select your text alignment.

Once other elements are added, you’ll be able to adjust the field’s position by moving it up or down within the form template.

Single Line Text allows you to ask a question that requires a single-line response. Enter the field label with a prompt the respondent should answer. You’ll have the option to hide label if the label is not needed. In the placeholder section, you can enter a sample response as a guide for respondents. Add any extra details needed in the supporting text section.

Under permissions, toggle required field to mark if this field has to be answered for the form to be submittable. Toggle read only to allow respondents to see this field in the form, but not to add a response.

Under Field options, enter the default value if necessary, which will display pre-populated text in the field when respondents access the form. Respondents can either change this text or leave it based on their preferences. You’ll have the option to enter a minimum and maximum character limit for responses.

Under security, toggle protected field to mask the input with asterisks keeping sensitive information or responses private between the respondent and form requestor.

The Multiple Lines field enables long response answers. You’ll have the same options as the single line text element, with the additional option to adjust the row height under field options. You can change the number of lines of text available to the respondent, providing adequate space for responses. Respondents can add additional lines if needed to complete their response.

Single-Selection gives respondents the option to select one answer from a list of options. Enter the field label with a question or statement to request information from the respondent.  Under supporting text, add any additional details if necessary that are needed to help understand the prompt. Under Field Options, type the response options that respondents can select from.

Multi-Selection allows the respondent to select multiple answers from a list of options. Follow the same settings as the Single-Selection options to build the field.

Dropdown List presents respondents with a dropdown list of option answers to select. Follow the same element options settings as the Single-Selection and Multi-Selection options and the available responses will appear to respondents in a dropdown list.
